Since the entrance ticket for the heritage park should be purchase well in advance, the tour must be reserved at least 10 days before the event date and confirmation will be issued 7 days before the event date.
Seaside Stories are stories of our guide, Celeste and her two families. She is the third generation of a small sized shipyard at Shau Kei Wan, currently one of a few old shipyards repairs small fishermen’s junk boats. After a brief small junk boat ride and Tam Kung Temple visit, Celeste will bring the guests to her shipyard and tell the story of her father and grandfather. It’s also a glimpse of history and development of Hong Kong junk boat building industry.
Following the shipyard visit, guests will be taken to the former Lyemun Barracks for the stories of the three declared monuments. Guests will be treated with a drink and a very special homemade appetizer inside the heritage building converted restaurant. The appetizer is authentic Carmeroon dish prepared by Celeste’s husband Chris, a chef from Carmeroon. She will share about her interethnic marriage life in Hong Kong when guests are tasting the appetizer. (In case Chris is not available, the appetizer will be prepared by Ms CH Leung, a retired social worker who is an excellent cook and sophisticated in dedicated appetizer and dessert).
This is a family friendly tour. The programmes involved are suitable for participants of all age. Guests can also have a close encounter to Hong Kong history, particularly the legacy as a small fishing village.
