Tanka Stories

Tanka, native people of Hong Kong, dwelled in the typhoon shelters in the early days, making a very iconic view of the city.

Miriam, an environmental consultant, programme host, and South Pole explorer, is the descendant of Hong Kong Tanka. She will sail us through the three major typhoon shelters, namely Shau Kei Wan, Aberdeen and Causeway Bay, where her 7 generations inhabited. She will also share with us a snack box of authentic tanka cuisine for an in-depth encounter of Tanka culture.

Participants will gather 8 persons in a group with a distance of 1.5M for each group on the ground. All will be requested to check body temperature and wear masks all the time. If a participant’s body temperature is at 37.5 °C or above, one will be requested to quit the tour with full refund. The ferry compartment will be disinfectant before boarding.
